Get out of Iraq?

All Americans are aware that the war in Iraq is bloody and that we are losing precious Americans by the thousands. Not one of us have forgotten 911.

However, even an Average American can see that had "pulling out" of Iraq been a real choice, Congress, which has been controlled by the Democrats since November of 2006 (the war began in 2003), would have already gotten us out by now!! After all, Congress has to pass funding for the war. From a news release on Whitehouse.gov:

In February, the President requested and Congress budgeted for $145 billion in war costs, which reflected the best estimate available at that time of the full costs of the war in 2008. In response to a bipartisan call, the Administration included the request in the President's FY08 budget. Detailed justifications for FY07 and FY08 were provided to Congress and the public on government websites.

It isn't hard for us Average Americans to figure out that there is a lot at stake in Iraq. The people at the top in our government, both Republican and Democrat, have information that the public isn't privy to. The information may be about terrorists who want to annihilate us, or it may be about the world's oil supply. In any case, much as we may hate that our brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, sons and daughters are at war in a foreign land, we know that something big depends on us remaining there for now.

Although having our troops come home is a dream come true for us, the possible resulting nightmare may be a higher cost than we would be willing to pay.

Candidates, if you promise to bring our troops home "within 60 days" of your taking office, you need to remember that as Commander in Chief, your number one priority is the safety and well-being of us Average Americans.
